Trent Beretta is a member of two pretty prominent groups in AEW; Roppongi Vice, a New Japan import tag team alongside the notoriously underrated Rocky Romero, and Best Freinds, the tag team that was initially composed of Beretta and Chuck Taylor before ballooning out to also feature Orange Cassidy, Kris Statlander, Wheeler Yuta, and maybe Danhausen too.
Now granted, none of those teams/factions are upper card contenders for championship gold; Best Friends have challenged for the tag team titles a few times, and Orange Cassidy once committed to a three-way for the World Title versus Pac and Kenny Omega, but as a whole, Beretta groups fall more into the “fan favorite” category than the fast-rising, title-contender realm.
… except does Beretta actually have fans? Has anyone ever met a fan of the wrestler formerly known as “Trent?”?
WWE superstar Dolph Ziggler certainly hasn't met any, nor has his brother Ryan Nemeth, or the fans who came out to their A Night of a Thousand Hunks comedy show in LA for that matter, either.

Huh, what gives? Does this literal child have an agenda? Or was this all planned?
Look, the ultimate charm and appeal of Trent in AEW, and Best Friends as a whole, lies in their inherent goofiness combined with their genuine heart. Let's not forget the Parking Lot Brawl between the faction and Santana and Ortiz. That match was a pandemic-era masterpiece because of the visceral action combined with the goofiness of Orange Cassidy hiding in a trunk and Trent's Mom coming at the end to celebrate. Underrated and underestimated underdogs is kind of the group's gimmick at this point. Therefore, this kind of fun rib at Trent is perfectly on-brand.
