Following the incredible 60-point finish to his decorated career, Kobe Bryant addressed the media for the final time as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers late last night.

Maybe it had not hit him yet that his career was really over, or maybe he had already come to terms with that reality, but Bryant had a giddy grin on his face the entire time he talked to reporters. He really was in a trance.

Eventually, Kobe was asked a question along the lines of “So, where do you go from here?”

Bryant didn't hesitate for a second, insisting that he would go about a similar routine that he had before; he said he needed to keep working, to stay hungry.

Sure enough, the Mamba kept his word.

Hitting the gym isn't the only thing Bryant accomplished.

According to ESPN this morning, Kobe woke up at dawn, went to church, worked out, and was in his office by 8:30 am.

(The picture is actually from yesterday morning, but it drives the point home.)

Anybody familiar with Bryant's work habits is not surprised at all by this news. Kobe's drive to be great is what allowed him to become one of the best scorers and players in the history of the NBA, and that motor transcends basketball to pursuits well beyond.

Kobe refuses to get complacent and lose that determination; it's who he is.

Bryant has all of the money he could never need, and while that's an incredibly nice luxury to have, he's not just going to sit back and do nothing. He's an active guy who loves to work, and at age 37, he has no plans to stop any time soon.
