The Air Jordan 5 was released 1990 and worn by Michael Jordan in the lead-up to his first NBA Championship with the Chicago Bulls. Debuted in the original “Black Metallic” colorway, the primarily black color scheme instantly became a hit with fans off the court. Michael Jordan also made the shoes famous with his play on the court and the extensive marketing done behind the numbered Jordan line.

As we've seen in the past with retro Jordan sneakers, the brand will add a brand-new colorway to the mix as they try to update their catalogue for the winter season. For the first time, we'll see a reversed version of the classic Air Jordan 5, taking on a clean white look with some of the same detailing throughout.

The Air Jordan 5 returns as one of the more hyped silhouettes in the numbered Jordan line and the OG “Black Metallic” Jordan 5 could be one of the most sought-after colorways. The main difference with this “Reverse Metallic” pair is the inversion of white to black along the uppers, replaced by leather instead of the usual nubuck material. The midsole and outsole will remain black and the shoes will feature an off-white icy outsole.

The Air Jordan 5 will also feature its classic reflective silver tongue with black Jordan logos on the tongue, outsole, and back heel. The iconic “shark teeth” will be metallic silver speckled with black, much like the original black metallic 5s. The shoes are finished with white laces and feature the typical lace lock standard on all Jordan 5s. All in all, this could shape-up to be another classic retro colorway with how clean, simple, and classic this look comes off as.

The Air Jordan 5 “Reverse Metallic” was recently confirmed for a December 7. 2024 release date and a first-look was given by sneaker source @sharkicks1. The shoes will come with a retail tag of $200 and if they're on-par with the retro Jordan releases this year, they should come in adjusted sizing for the whole family. They'll be made available on release date on Nike SNKRS app and select Jordan retailers in limited quantities.

These are shaping up to be an anticipated release, so be sure to mark your calendars and set those early alarms! Check out our Sneakers news for more info on upcoming releases!
