There has been a lot of huge news in the college football world since the season came to a close last week, but nothing has been bigger than Alabama football legend Nick Saban retiring from his head coaching position with the Crimson Tide. Alabama has since hired Kalen DeBoer from Washington, but the transfer portal departures have still been on the rise. Whenever a team loses their head coach, that is to be expected, and the Crimson Tide are seeing some big time players enter the transfer portal.

On Wednesday, news broke that Alabama football star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor was entering the transfer portal. The Crimson Tide have taken some big hits on the offensive line from transfer portal departures, and Proctor is the latest to go.

“BREAKING: Alabama OT Kadyn Proctor plans to enter the Transfer Portal, he tells @on3sports,” Hayes Fawcett said in a tweet. “The 6’8 365 OT started every game for Alabama as a True Freshman Received Freshman All-American & 1st Team Freshman All-SEC Honors Was ranked as the No. 1 OT in the ‘23 Class.”

It hasn't been very long since Proctor entered the portal, but there are already some rumblings on where he might commit. Iowa football seems to be a potential landing spot for the former Alabama football star.

“Already being told by multiple sources Iowa is the early school to watch for former five-star Kadyn Proctor,” Pete Nakos said in a tweet. “No surprise there.”

The Hawkeyes are known for their big boys along the line of scrimmage, so it would be a good fit for Proctor as he looks for a new home after leaving Alabama.

This a tough blow for Alabama, and it didn't stop there, either. Also on Wednesday, Zion Grady, a five-star EDGE committed to the Crimson Tide in their 2025 recruiting class, decommitted from Alabama. Grady is a five-star recruit according to 247 Sports, the #23 player in the 2025 class, the #1 EDGE in the 2025 class and the #2 player in the state of Alabama. He currently attends Enterprise High School in Enterprise, Alabama.

It's unfortunate for the Crimson Tide, but all of this is expected after Nick Saban decided to retire. These guys came to Alabama to play for one of the best coaches in college football history, and now, he's not there. Kalen DeBoer is a fantastic coach who will probably be great for the Crimson Tide, but any team dealing with a coach departure is going to deal with some player departures as well.
