One of America's favorite couples is breaking up and this time it seems to be for real. Former New York Yankees third baseman, Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez, are calling it quits after just about four years, per TODAY.

The two have been off and on since March, as it was first reported then that the two were separating and calling off their engagement. However, nothing came to fruition at that time. Now, the superstar couple has officially called it quits after sharing a joint statement to TODAY.

“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

After overcoming breakup rumors back in March, those rumors arrived again after Jennifer Lopez shared a photo of herself not wearing the engagement ring. Four days later, Lopez and Alex Rodriguez officially called it quits.

The two have children from previous spouses, and commonly shared pictures of their family through social media. They seemed to get along with each other for the most part. Lopez even shared what it was like being a mother and step-mother to their children.

“I was so loving to his kids and he was so loving and accepting of mine, and they embraced each other right away,” she added.

Although they're parting ways, the two will each stay busy in their respective careers. There doesn't seem to be any bad blood between Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, as they want to remain friends.
