More than two years after Tyler Skaggs' death, the FBI is still investigating the ex-Los Angeles Angels staffer, Eric Kay, who supplied the pitcher with oxycodone that led to his passing.

In a recent court hearing on Friday, it's been revealed that Kay was actually giving the drug to approximately five other players, via The LA Times.

The filing, which outlines some of the evidence prosecutors will introduce at the trial, accuses former Angels communications director Eric Kay of being the “singular source” who supplied oxycodone to the players in amounts of “two to three pills while others would ask for up to 20 pills.”

“The evidence will also demonstrate that Kay often coordinated the distribution through text messages or through conversations involving the victim [Skaggs],” the filing said. “This witness testimony will in many instances be corroborated by text message communications…. Evidence will also demonstrate that Kay was motivated to obtain these pills because Kay could himself use some of the pills that he obtained for the Angels players. It therefore provides context and background to the distribution at issue in the indictment.”

Wow. Kay was basically a drug dealer in disguise as a staff member of the Angels organization. Skaggs was found in his hotel room in Texas on July 1st and it was later revealed that he choked on his own vomit due to mixed ethanol, fentanyl, and oxycodone intoxication. Investigators also found an oxy pill that had fentanyl in it at the scene.

The ex-Angels lefty was such a promising talent and had so many great years in the big leagues ahead of him. It's an absolute shame how his life ended, but it should give his family a small sense of relief they've found just why he passed and who was responsible.

Skaggs' family sued Kay and the Angels' former Vice President of Communications Tim Mead in June, alleging that he should've known Kay was selling drugs to players.

Kay was arrested last summer.
