It took a while, but Jurgen Klopp wound up successfully turning things around at Liverpool, which has included one Premier League title win. From Antonio Conte’s standpoint, he sees that Tottenham can follow Liverpool’s blueprint to success.

In speaking during a press conference following Tottenham’s 1-1 Premier League draw result against Liverpool, Conte was asked on just what it would take for his Spurs side to compete with teams such as the Reds in England’s top flight. For the Italian manager, he sees that such a feat could be pulled off under certain conditions.

“I think we need to have a path with the team, and to create a base and then to improve the base here,” Conte said. “I'm sure Liverpool did this because they created a foundation with Jurgen and they did a fantastic job in seven years they won a lot. He created a monster, in a good way, an amazing way, and he has to be satisfied – but to do this you have to have time and patience, and a lot of things because you have to go step by step.

“It's impossible to imagine that next season you are going to win the title because I'm realistic and I know there are teams in England like Liverpool and City, Chelsea, also United, who are really strong, and it's not simple to face these monsters.”

For Klopp, he did not lead Liverpool to grand success right away after being named as its new manager in 2015. Under the German manager, Liverpool first finished in the top two of the league standings back in the 2018-2019 season, which was then followed up by a title win in the next campaign.

On Conte’s part, he sure has quite a task ahead to push Tottenham to become a perennial contender in the Premier League should he opt to stay put. For one, as the reigning Serie A-winning manager touched on, multiple clubs will be vying to emerge as a keen contender in next season’s league title race.

Tottenham has three matches remaining in its league schedule this season, including the North London derby against rival Arsenal.
