New open-world Assassin’s Creed Project Red is reportedly in the works and is possibly set to take place in Asia.

The new AC title codenamed Project Red could finally take place in Japan which fans have been asking for quite some time now. The reports also mentioned that Project Red could be part of Ubisoft’s upcoming live-service game Assassin’s Creed Infinity

According to Kotaku, Project Red is now under development and is set to take place in Asia. Further reports from Jeff Grubb’s live stream indicated that the game will specifically take place in Japan. Despite Ubisoft’s current financial struggle to launch games, apparently, the devs are pushing for a new AC title. However, we’re not entirely sure if it’ll be a standalone game or not. Bloomberg reporter, Jason Schreier, tweeted that Project Red will be part of AC Infinity.

As for a release date, if Project Red will truly be part of AC Infinity, it’s most likely that the game will launch sometime in 2023 or 2024. If Ubisoft decides to launch the title as a standalone game, we can’t give a precise prediction. This is because the rumored upcoming AC: Vallhalla DLC turned into a spin-off game codenamed “Rift” could be launching sometime in 2023. The only possible release window for Project Red as a standalone game could be after the launch of AC Infinity.

Everything is unclear at the moment, however, the good news for Assassin’s Creed fans, there are three potential upcoming titles coming out soon. At least we know that Ubisoft is prioritizing the franchise that put them on the map in the first place.
