Ayo Edebiri will be getting a promotion during The Bear Season 3. The creator of the FX and Hulu hit recently revealed Edebiri's expanded role.
Actor-turned-director
Chris Storer, creator of The Bear, told Esquire that Edebiri will direct “a few” episodes of the third season.
“It was also great having Ayo on set with me that week — she's going to direct a few episodes next year so she was an important set of fresh eyes,” Storer revealed. “She and I, and our showrunner Joanna [Calo], often just yell a bunch of s**t out so we can keep rolling. Honestly, if our actors weren't spectacular across the board we wouldn't be able to make the show this way.”
Ayo Edebiri has been a main cast member of The Bear since its 2022 debut. She is also known for her role on Big Mouth, and she's also a writer and producer of the hit Netflix show. Since becoming a bigger star, Edebiri has appeared in Abbott Elementary, Mulligan, and Clone High. She was also a consulting producer and writer of What We Do In the Shadows and recently starred in an episode of Black Mirror earlier this year.
On the film side, Edebiri got her start in Cooper Raiff's directorial debut. 2023 has been huge for her, as she starred in The Sweet East, Theater Camp, and Bottoms. She also had voice roles in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
Tbe Bear stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmy, a New York City chef. The show follows his journey as he inherits his family's sandwich shop in Chicago. A third season has yet to be announced, but Storer's comments would suggest it's coming.
