Barcelona boss Xavi has already secured his first signing in charge of the club, with Ferran Torres set to arrive in January from Manchester City. Now, he's looking to bring in a veteran striker to bolster the Catalan side.

Per Fabrizio Romano, Barca is very keen on Juventus frontman Alvaro Morata, who is currently on loan in Turin from Atletico Madrid:

Xavi would ideally like Morata to arrive in January as well, but it's a little bit more complicated than that for Barcelona. Their financial situation is still far from stable, which means they would have to sell a couple of players before actually securing any more deals.

Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti are two names that instantly come to mind, with the La Liga giants looking to find them new homes. As Romano noted, Atleti is willing to sell Morata, but considering Barcelona is a rival, that could complicate things.

With lots of intriguing young talent in the squad, Morata would give Barca experience and productivity up top. He's scored five goals and supplied two assists in 18 Serie A appearances this term for Juve. With the transfer window quickly approaching, any possible deal between Barcelona and the Spaniard will need to materialize in the coming weeks.
