Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson has been sidelined since Week 14 after contracting COVID-19, but it looks as if the veteran is nearing a return to the field. Robinson admitted he was hit hard by the virus, not having been asymptomatic like many of the players to test positive in recent weeks. Per Mark Grote, Robinson revealed that he lost a significant amount of weight due to COVID-19.

Robinson claimed that he lost as many as 10 pounds after contracting the virus, an extremely alarming amount of weight to drop over the course of just a couple of weeks. He was placed on the COVID-19 list on Dec. 16, and was activated on Dec. 27, meaning he dropped all that weight throughout just 11 days.

Robinson is listed by the Bears as weighing 209 pounds, so dropping that much weight would see him fall below 200. While talking to the media, Robinson suggested that he's spent the past 10 days focusing on recuperating and trying to add back on the weight.

The 28-year-old was harshly affected by the virus which he described as being a “beast.” A-Rob may have some work to do before getting back on the field, too, as he noted that the virus had an impact on his conditioning, via Alex Shapiro.

The 2021 season has been one to forget for Robinson, who has recorded just 32 receptions for 353 yards and one touchdown while featuring in 10 games for the Bears. The COVID-19 weight loss only adds to the struggles he's faced this year, and he'll have to really lock in order to get back to full strength ahead of the weekend.
