Despite a good showing in their preseason games, the Chicago Bears decided to keep their rookie quarterback Justin Fields on the bench. Instead, they started former Pro Bowl QB Andy Dalton a move that was collectively clowned upon by Bears and NFL fans everywhere.

Dalton was a shell of his former self, earning a 72.9 passer rating in his first start for the Bears. He also had some unfortunate lowlights, including this horrid pass that went straight to the Los Angeles Rams. (via PFF)

On the other hand, Fields looked a lot better when he was on the field for the Bears. His first career touchdown was a rushing TD against the Rams defense on 1st and Goal in the third quarter. It was a glimpse of what Fields could do for the Bears. (via Bleacher Report)

Seeing this wide disparity between the two QB's performance, NFL and Bears fans went in on Matt Nagy and his coaching staff.

It's a rough time for Bears fans. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time they've  had trouble with their quarterbacks, as Twitter user @TheSASBurner recalled.

Bears fans would have to hope that either, a) Andy Dalton regains his old form and becomes a decent quarterback for them. Or b) that Nagy has a change of heart and rightfully start Justin Fields full-time. Given the track record for rookie quarterbacks, historically, though, they should probably start praying for option A more.
