The Chicago Bears star safety Eddie Jackson will likely be watching the game from the sidelines on Sunday after suffering an ankle injury in last week's game against the Green Bay Packers.

According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk Jackson's playing chances on Sunday against San Francisco are more than slim.

“Jackson injured his ankle in the team’s NFC North-clinching win over the Packers last weekend and was out of practice all week as a result. That didn’t create much hope that he’d be in the lineup this weekend and the team has listed him as doubtful to play this weekend.”

Jackson has been great all season and has built upon an impressive rookie campaign in 2017 so the Bears will surely miss his presence on Sunday if he can not play. The Bears have arguably the best defense in the league, headlined by Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, Kyle Fuller, and Prince Amukamura. Jackson has come up with huge plays this season, accounting for six interceptions and two forced fumbles.

The Bears are not likely to overlook the 49ers, considering they are a sneaky good team and have come away with some surprising wins this season. San Francisco is coming off a two-game win streak, a stretch that saw the 49ers beat two solid teams in Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. The Bears are undoubtedly the better team, but if they slip up at all the 49ers can surely take advantage.

Jackson will be very much needed going forward in the postseason, so hopefully, he can get healthy in time for playoffs.
