The Chicago Bears traded running back Jordan Howard to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, ending his three-year tenure with the club.

On Friday morning, Howard took to Twitter to thank the Bears franchise and the fanbase.

Howard, who played his collegiate football at the University of Indiana, was originally selected by Chicago in the fifth round (150th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He had a surprisingly fantastic rookie campaign, racking up 1,313 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 5.2 yards per carry. In addition, he hauled in 29 receptions for 298 yards and a score en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Then, the following year, the 24-year-old totaled 1,122 yards while reaching the end zone nine times on the ground, registering 4.1 yards per attempt.

Howard then went on to have a disappointing 2018 season. While he finished with 935 yards and nine touchdowns, he averaged just 3.7 yards per carry and caught just 20 passes for 145 yards.

As a result, the Bears decided it was best to move him and turn the reins over to Tarik Cohen and whomever else they may end up adding to the backfield.

Many feel that Chicago will take another running back in the NFL Draft next month.

In return for Howard's services, the Bears received a 2020 sixth-round draft pick from the Eagles that has the potential to become a fifth-rounder.

Chicago won 12 games this past season and captured the NFC North division title, making the playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign. The Bears then proceeded to suffer a devastating loss to—ironically—Philadelphia in the Wild Card Round.
