There has been looming talk about a potential extension for Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green. Despite the mutual interest, there still are no talks about a potential deal being in the works.

Green is entering the final year of his current deal and will account for $15.2 million against the salary cap in 2019. According to Jeremy Rauch of FOX19, he does not seem worried about his future in Cincinnati.

“Cincinnati is home for me,” Green said. “I’ve been here nine years. This is home as much as South Carolina. All I know is Cincinnati. I can’t see myself playing anywhere else or playing in a different city. Hopefully I can be here for a couple more years.”

The Bengals have ushered in some significant changes this offseason. Although they have hinted that quarterback Andy Dalton is entering a bit of a prove-it year, Green's future in Cincinnati appears to be secure. His comments are telling of how confident he is that an extension will eventually get hashed out.

There is certainly good reason for Green to be confident. He has established himself as one of the elite wideouts in the NFL while serving as the Bengals' No. 1 option in the passing game ever since his arrival. He had been in the midst of another Pro Bowl-caliber year before a lingering toe injury limited him to just eight games. Regardless, he still managed to register 45 receptions for 687 yards and six touchdowns. Green hopes that Cincinnati will continue to rely on his presence as a stabilizing factor amidst all their recent changes.
