The Cincinnati Bengals failed to extend their win streak to three games following a 28-21 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. But not even a frustrating setback at the hands of their bitter rivals has deterred Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick from issuing a strong rhetoric about the hierarchy of power between his team and Pittsburgh.

Via Katherine Terrell of ESPN:

Dre Kirkpatrick said “We're better than them. They ain't better than us. Period. They ain't better than us; we're better than them.  But they won, so—my hat's off to them.  I'm gonna be a team player…they went out there and they fought.  They got the win; we got the loss.”

The 4-2 Bengals still have a better record than the 3-2-1 Steelers, so Dre Kirkpatrick’s opinion carries some weight, though, Sunday’s loss should have Cincinnati ceding the bragging rights to Ben Roethlisberger and company.

Kirkpatrick’s resentment can also be charged to his disappointment over the game’s officiating, particularly to a holding call on the Bengals late in the game that helped paved the way for Pittsburgh to score a game-winning touchdown, per Lorenzo Reyes of USA TODAY Sports

“Trash,” Kirkpatrick said of the holding call. “I don't even care if they fine me. Trash. Trash call. … C'mon, man. Critical situation, man. They gotta be right on with that.”

Kirkpatrick and the Bengals will have an opportunity to avenge their loss to Pittsburgh in Week 17, when they pay the Steelers a visit at Heinz Field.
