The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to take LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Despite it being deemed a foregone conclusion, they continue to downplay all the talk out of respect for quarterback Andy Dalton.

Their pick is expected to replace Dalton as the franchise quarterback moving forward. Regardless, director of player personnel Duke Tobin said during an appearance on the RapSheet + Friends podcast that the Bengals will continue to work on a solution that is best for both sides:

“I can tell you one thing, what Andy Dalton’s done for the Cincinnati Bengals is not something that we’re going to forget and we’re not going to just willy-nilly, make something happen with him that, a) he’s uncomfortable with and, b) that we’re uncomfortable with,” Tobin said.

It is encouraging to see that there seems to be a strong sense of loyalty for everything that Dalton has in Cincinnati throughout his career. As a result, they are making efforts to ensure that he is treated with the respect he deserves before they finally reveal their long-term solution under center.

There is no question that they have certainly managed to do their part to ensure that Dalton does not feel slighted throughout the process. Head coach Zac Taylor has declined to comment on the prospect of adding Burrow in this year's draft. Meanwhile, Tobin recently refuted a report that the Bengals would not be looking to potentially trade the No. 1 pick.

Although Tobin and Taylor are saying all the right things, it is only a matter of time before they will need to confirm their plans for Dalton this offseason.
