The Cincinnati Bengals are in need of a new defensive coordinator, and Dom Capers could be the man for the job.

According to Alex Marvez of SiriusXM NFL Radio, the Bengals could go after Capers if they are not able to hire Dennis Allen, who is currently the defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.

Capers did not coach in the NFL this past season, but he was the Green Bay Packers' defensive coordinator for a long while, residing at that post from 2009 through 2017 and helping lead the Packers to a Super Bowl title during that span.

The 68-year-old earned his first NFL coaching job all the way back in 1986 when he was named the Saints' defensive backs coach, a position he held through 1991 before being hired as the Pittsburgh Steelers' defensive coordinator in 1992.

After three seasons with the Steelers, Capers landed a head-coaching job with the Carolina Panthers, residing at the helm for the Panthers for four years, making the playoffs just once.

Capers then returned to his roots in 1999, taking over as defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He worked there for two seasons before earning another head-coaching job in 2002, this time with the Houston Texans.
