Remember when people were thinking that Ja'Marr Chase would be the next John Ross for the Cincinnati Bengals when the former LSU Tigers star was struggling with catching the ball during training camp and in the preseason? That feels like it was so long ago, it didn't really happen.

Fast forward to Week 17 of the 2021 NFL regular season and there was Chase setting a new NFL rookie record by torching the Kansas City Chiefs in a 34-31 home win Sunday.

#Bengals rookie WR Ja’Marr Chase (1,429) passed Justin Jefferson (1,400) for the most receiving yards by a rookie in the Super Bowl era. Jefferson broke Anquan Boldin's long-time record last year. Chase breaks Jefferson's record this year. LSU representing in a big way.

Fantasy football managers who started Chase in Week 17 were rewarded big time by the Bengals wideout. Chase exploded for 266 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 11 catches and 12 targets. He caught all but one of quarterback Joe Burrow's four touchdown tosses against the Chiefs' porous defense.

Since coming up with a forgettable performance in a win against the Denver Broncos in Week 15 in which he caught just a pass for three receiving yards, Chase has played like a man possessed. Before embarrassing the Chiefs' stop unit, Chase toyed with the Baltimore Ravens' banged-up secondary and had 125 receiving yards on seven receptions and 10 targets.

The future is bright for Chase.
