The Cincinnati Bengals have been busy with a number of additions in free agency this offseason. It seems they were not done fortifying their personnel on the defensive side of the ball.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Bengals have signed former New Orleans Saints safety Vonn Bell to a three-year deal:

It is no secret that Cincinnati is in the midst of a grueling rebuild coming off another disappointing season. Regardless, this has not stopped them from spending big money in free agency after signing defensive tackle D.J. Reader and guard Xavier Su’a-Filo.

The Bengals also made sure to put an emphasis on fortifying their secondary by bringing in cornerbacks Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander. The addition of Bell gives them another promising, young talent top help spark a potential resurgence in the 2020 NFL season.

Although Bell is not considered to be a household name, he is still as solid of a safety as there is in the NFL. The former second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft made an immediate impact in New Orleans as an integral piece of their defense. The change of scenery could be just what he needs to kick things up a notch in Cincinnati.

The Bengals appear to be all in on kickstarting their rebuild after bringing in so many outside players through free agency. It is safe to say that they are optimistic that the looming arrival of LSU quarterback Joe Burrow will serve as the igniting factor.
