Coming into the season, many well expected that the likes of rookie quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence and Mac Jones would be among the top contenders for the 2021 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Instead, it has been Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase who continues to bolster his formidable resume for the honor.

Chase came into the Bengals' Week 7 road game against the Baltimore Ravens with five receiving touchdowns on the season, which led all rookie wideouts. He added to his receiving touchdowns total during the game with one standout highlight-reel play.

Chase showed off his tremendous speed in the open field with a keen 82-yard receiving touchdown during the third quarter of the contest. He first broke off several tackle attempts from multiple Ravens defenders after clinching a crucial third down conversion. But he was not done yet, as he flew on by for a touchdown score that stretched Cincinnati's lead in the game.

Chase is well on pace to record over 1,000 receiving yards and 10-plus receiving touchdowns in this campaign. This surely would boost his chances of coming away with this season's NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

In the big picture, the Bengals front office sure must be pleased that quarterback Joe Burrow is finding grand success with Chase. This is far from new, especially as they tormented SEC defenses over LSU's national title-winning run in 2019.
