The Los Angeles Clippers are one of the few NBA organizations with zero championships in franchise history. The team became a professional squad in 1970 and has never even played in an NBA Finals.

However, the Clippers have had some stellar coaches stroll the sidelines despite their overall record of 1,654-2,380. It's just that those coaches weren't always working with the best talent.

For this piece, we ranked the four best Clippers coaches in franchise history, starting off with a guy who has the second-highest winning percentage in regular-season history.

4. Vinny Del Negro

Del Negro coached the Clippers for three seasons, compiling a record of 128-102. He has the fourth-most wins in franchise history and the fourth-most playoff wins with six.

Vinny coached the early Lob City Clippers, but Chris Paul reportedly wasn't too fond of Del Negro and wanted a more polished coach to lead the team. The Clips parted ways with Del Negro and got Doc Rivers before the start of the 2014 season.

At least Del Negro never got into a fight with anyone on the Clippers. When he was with the Chicago Bulls, Del Negro and John Paxson got into it — with Paxson putting his hands around Vinny's neck.

3. Jack Ramsay

The Buffalo Braves — the Clippers' old team name — went 158-170 under Ramsay, who coached the squad for four seasons. Buffalo made the playoffs three times under Ramsay, going 9-13 in 22 games.

Ramsey's nine playoffs wins are good for second in franchise history. He's also got the third-highest postseason winning percentage.

In 1996, Ramsay was named one of the top-10 coaches in NBA history.

2. Mike Dunleavy Sr.

Dunleavy coached the Clippers for seven seasons. During his tenure, he won 215 regular-season games and seven playoff contests.

With a 7-5 playoff record, Dunleavy has the highest winning percentage in Clippers postseason history. L.A., though, only made the postseason once with him leading the way. He's second in franchise history for regular-season wins, but he's also got the most losses with 326.

1. Doc Rivers

This was a really easy choice. Rivers has racked up 351 regular-season victories with the Clippers, putting him first in the wins category in franchise history. He also got 20 playoffs wins, which is first in franchise history as well.

The Lob City Clippers were always so talented but the team could never win in the postseason. Rivers hasn't guided the Clippers past the second round of the playoffs yet, but they have a good chance to break that drought with their most talented roster yet.

The 2019-20 Clippers were the best team Rivers has coached in Los Angeles. The club was a championship contender with superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George leading the way.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19, Rivers and the Clippers were in second place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 44-20.

Whichever Clippers coach leads the franchise to its first title will never have to buy a meal again in Los Angeles, at least in Clipper land. Los Angeles Lakers fans will probably still have some venom toward the winning coach despite living in the same city.

Whenever basketball starts up again this 2020, Rivers will have a good shot of winning his second NBA championship as a coach. He's already established himself as the best coach in Clippers franchise history. Now, the Chicago native is looking to add to his ring collection.
