Most obviously, “Luka Magic” himself in Luka Doncic is the massive odds-on favorite to end up recording the most total assists in the 2024 NBA Finals.
Thus far, Doncic has made it a point of emphasis to make the extra pass to open teammates to get them involved in the offense. Currently, Luka is averaging 8.8 assists per game and has managed record double-digit numbers in this category eight separate times already during the playoffs. Furthermore, Doncic is considered as one of the best passers in today's game as his incredible court vision and touch on the ball make him a certified threat to be a playmaker from anywhere on the floor. Without stating the obvious, there is an extremely lofty chance that Luka will come away with the most assists in this series.
Why Jayson Tatum Will Record Most Assists
Secondly, Jayson Tatum has become a very underrated passer in recent seasons and currently has +950 odds to end up with the most assists in these NBA Finals.
On paper, it is Tatum who has combined for roughly six assists per game and even is fresh off of back-to-back outings in which he tallied eight dimes during the final pair of games with the Pacers. Believe it or not, but Mr. Jrue Holiday enters this list with the fourth-best odds to record the most assists. For starters, Holiday is often known for his swarming and suffocating defense on that end of the floor, but don't overlook his ability to make the extra pass to help Boston's scoring prowess.
During the postseason, it is Holiday who has tallied an average of 4.6 assists per game and even reached the 10-dime marker in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus Indiana. It isn't expected that Holiday will surpass some of the other names on this list in assists, but crazier things have happened!
