The Los Angeles Angels will continue their three-game series with the Seattle Mariners on Saturday at T-Mobile Park. We're here to share our MLB odds series, make an Angels-Mariners prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.
The Angels entered the weekend series with a 21-35 record, which put them in last place in the American League West. Sadly, they are not having a good season and have endured numerous hardships.
The Mariners came into the weekend series with a 31-27 record, placing them first in the AL West. Now, they look to keep themselves on top of this division as they face the worst team in their division.
The Mariners won the season series 8-5 in 2023, but they only went 3-3 at home against the Halos. The Angels won the season series 10-9 in 2022, but they went 6-4 in Seattle. Also, the Mariners went 11-8 in 2021, while the Angels went 6-4 in Seattle.
Reid Detmers starts for the Angels. He is 3-5 with a 5.76 ERA. Ultimately, he hopes to bounce back after going five innings while allowing three earned runs on four hits while striking out eight and walking four. Detmers has fallen off a cliff since his first three starts. Yet, he comes into this game with a record of 2-0 and a 4.75 ERA over six career starts against the Mariners.
Bryce Miller starts for the Mariners. He is 4-5 with a 3.48 ERA. Recently, he went six innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out six in a win over the Houston Astros. Miller has produced six quality starts in 11 outings. Moreover, he tossed five innings while allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out 10 in a no-decision in his solo outing against the Halos.

Why The Angels Will Cover The Spread/Win
The Angels have had a horrible season, but their offense is still producing sometimes. Significantly, they rank 13th in batting average, fifth in home runs, and 10th in slugging percentage. But the Halos are also only 24th in on-base percentage and 18th in runs.
Nola Schanuel was the first pick for the Angels in 2023 but has not done much this season. Substantially, he will attempt to change that in his first appearance against Miller. Taylor Ward entered the weekend with a mark of .247 with 36 hits, four home runs, 15 RBIs, and 23 runs over the last 4- games. Yet, he has never faced Miller.
Catcher Logan O'Hoppe looks to find his footing. Overall, it will be his first time facing Miller. Luis Rengifo has moved all around the lineup. Now, he will face a pitcher where he is 1 for 3 in his career against.
The Halos don't have good pitching. Regrettably, they are only 28th in team ERA. Their bullpen has been even worse, ranking 28th in team ERA. Predictably, the performance against the Yankees on Thursday (six runs) did little to inspire confidence in this group.
The Angels will cover the spread if their offense can spell them a few runs early. Then, they need a good performance from Detmers before the bullpen comes in.
Why The Mariners Will Cover The Spread/Win
The Mariners have had a good season, but their offense still needs work. Unfortunately, they rank only 28th in batting average and runs. The M's are also only 27th in on-base percentage and 24th in slugging percentage. Yet, they are also 10th in home runs, showcasing some power.
Julio Rodriguez has enjoyed playing the Angels, batting .301 with 31 hits, seven home runs, 18 RBIs, and 23 runs over 25 games against them. Additionally, he is 3 for 6 with one home run and two RBIs against Detmers. Ty France has also produced against the Halos, with a mark of .256 with 44 hits, six home runs, 32 RBIs, and 27 runs over 46 career games. Also, he is 3 for 13 with one home run and four RBIs against Detmers.
Mitch Haniger is a longtime Mariner, with a .291 average with 71 hits, 16 home runs, 46 RBIs, and 55 runs over 66 games against the Angels. Yet, he is just 0 for 5 against Detmers. Cal Raleigh will look to slug the baseball. Overall, he is 1 for 6 against Detmers, with his one hit being a ball he took deep.
The Mariners continue to produce good pitching. Ultimately, they are ninth in team ERA. Their relievers have also been solid. So far, they rank eighth in team ERA.
The Mariners will cover the spread if their offense can produce some runs off Detmers. Then, they need Miller to pitch well.
Final Angels-Mariners Prediction & Pick
The Mariners are a better team than the Angels. Yet, the Halos have done well against them in Seattle. The Angels are 4-2 against the spread over the past six games in Seattle and 13-5 over the past 18 games against the spread. Ultimately, the Halos simply play well in Seattle, even when they lose. Expect this to be no different. While the Mariners may win this game, the Angels find a way to cover the spread on the road in the second game of the weekend series.
