The Seton Hall Pirates are a tough team, but a vulnerable and volatile one. College basketball odds analysts would simply point out that Seton Hall struggled mightily with Georgetown on Wednesday night. Georgetown hadn't won a Big East Conference game all season, but the Hoyas led the Hall by one point in the final minute before the Pirates hit a few big shots and made a defensive stop in the final 10 seconds to avoid what would have been a terrible upset loss.
Seton Hall is playing with a specific handicap at the moment. Kadary Richmond, a key player for the Pirates, suffered a wrist injury against Creighton this past weekend. He is not 100-percent healthy. Yet, Seton Hall was able to win on the road at Creighton in spite of the Richmond injury. Tough but volatile: that is what Seton Hall is, and it's a central part of any attempt to make a Seton Hall UConn prediction, measured against the Big East Tournament odds. Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard is a hot commodity on the market. Maryland and Louisville, which both have job openings, might make a run at him after the NCAA Tournament.
When trying to make a Seton Hall UConn pick, one thing you need to remember is that after several years in the American Athletic Conference, UConn — back in the Big East — gets to play the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden. This has been a home-court advantage for UConn, and the Huskies are thrilled to once again embrace it. UConn won the 2014 national championship by going through MSG for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight. Playing in the Garden is an extension of the UConn campus. Coach Dan Hurley should feel very much at home in New York, as he prepares his team for the NCAA Tournament and tries to restore the program after its collapse following that aforementioned 2014 national title.

Why Seton Hall Could Cover the Spread
The Pirates played a horrible game against Georgetown but survived and advanced in the bracket. It is often the case that a team which comes through a scare is liberated and refreshed in its next game. A strong performance from Seton Hall against an inconsistent UConn team will be enough to cover the spread.
Why UConn Could Cover the Spread
The Huskies love playing in Madison Square Garden. They will benefit from that. Their energy should be sky-high, and the Kadary Richmond situation with Seton Hall limits what the Pirates can do on offense. Even if Richmond plays, he's not likely to be fully effective.
Final Seton Hall-UConn Prediction & Pick
UConn and MSG is one of the great marriages in sports. Trust the energy of the Huskies to overwhelm Seton Hall over the course of 40 minutes.
