The NCAA continues Wednesday night with this elite Big-12 matchup! It's time to continue our college basketball odds series with a TCU-Texas prediction and pick.
TCU comes into this game (17-8) on the season and (6-7) in conference play. They are one of the better teams in the competitive conference but played far better outside of the Big-12 this season. Texas is the 20th ranked team in the nation with a (19-8) record and (8-6) conference record. Texas handled TCU by 23 points last time out so we will see if that happens again Wednesday night. Both teams are coming off losses so only one will bounce back tonight.

Why TCU Could Cover The Spread

The Horned Frogs have three scorers who average double digits. Mike Miles leads the team with 14.7 points per game but shoots only 36% from the field. Forward Emanual Miller is their more consistent option as he averages 10 points off 50% shooting on the season. He has also played in all 25 games this year. TCU needs those two to play well tonight as well as Damion Baugh because Texas is a very good defensive team. Texas is led by their defensive efforts as they only allow 57 points per game on average. Both teams average exactly 68.4 points per game so it will be on TCU to not let Texas disrupt their flow. TCU is (14-9-2) against the spread this season.
Why Texas Could Cover The Spread
Texas will need their defense to continue to lead them tonight. The Longhorns don't have a No. 1 option offensively, so it will once again be a group effort to cover this spread. Timmy Allen leads the team in scoring at 11.7 points per game, followed by Andrew Jones and Marcus Carr who average just over 10. Allen is their top player as most would assume, as he shoots 52% from the floor and grabs 6.4 rebounds per game. He'll need to be a major factor tonight if the Longhorns want to cover 9.5 points. This won't be an easy game but they did destroy them almost two months ago. TCU hasn't really played very well since so I'd expect Texas to control most of this game.
They are only (12-15) ATS this season, however. They don't seem to find ways to cover but they have had a difficult schedule this season. If they win this game tonight, they will be just 3.5 games out of the Big-12 lead.
Final TCU-Texas Prediction & Pick
It looks like Texas is bad against the spread but they have had a tough stretch of games playing a ranked opponent in six of their last seven games. This team knows what a tough opponent looks like and since they have already beaten TCU by 23 this season, I think they can beat them by at least 10 tonight. Take Texas to cover this spread at home where they are (15-2) on the season.
Final TCU-Texas Prediction & Pick: Texas -9.5 (-110)
