Minnesota hosts No. 13 Wisconsin on Wednesday night! It's time to continue our college basketball odds series with a Wisconsin-Minnesota prediction and pick.
Wisconsin comes into this matchup fresh after a dramatic win over unranked Michigan last time out. Both coaches seemed to have not agreed with the end of the game plan and it caused Michigan head coach Juwan Howard to be suspended for the rest of the regular season for punching an assistant coach on Wisconsin. Wisconsin is now (21-5) and (12-4) in the conference on the season.
Minnesota doesn't have anything trending for them right now besides a winning record. They are (13-12) on the season but only (4-12) in the Big Ten Conference. They are coming off a huge 17-point win over Northwestern last time out after getting blown out by Penn State prior.

Why Wisconsin Could Cover The Spread
Wisconsin is very capable of covering this spread on the road. They come in as favorites which is the right call. The Badgers are 19-5 against teams that are over .500 so that tells how good this squad is. Jonathon Davis just notched 25 in the win over Michigan and he should continue to be hot as one of the nation's top scorers. Wisconsin won the last matchup by six last time they faced. That was a closer game than the Badgers would've liked as they were at home. Now on the road, they will have to play even better because Minnesota is 8-5 at home. Wisconsin is 7-3 in their last 10 games averaging 69.9 points per game. The Badgers are now 15-11 against the spread on the season.
Why Minnesota Could Cover The Spread
Minnesota has a chance to cover this spread, but it won't be easy. They are at home where they play better, but this Badgers team is very good right now. They will have to contain Davis who can light up any arena he's in. If Davis goes off for another 20+ point performance I'm not sure how the Golden Gophers will be able to stay in this game. Wisconsin can score a lot of points and have multiple options outside of Davis as well.
Offensively, Jamison Battle and Payton Willis need to be on their game as they are the two top-scoring options for Minnesota. They both average north of 15 points per game and will need to do so to cover this spread against a very elite Wisconsin team. Minnesota is just 3-7 in their last 10 games as they are trending in the wrong direction. They are just 12-13 against the spread this season.
