The Detroit Lions Week 18 matchup against the Green Bay Packers could actually be a solid contest. Detroit doesn't plan on backing down while Green Bay looks to play their starters. We take a look at this Lions-Packers game with some of our Lions Week 18 predictions in mind.
Detroit's defense has been putrid this year, however, they've been riddled with injuries all season. It's hard to imagine the Lions' defense slowing down Aaron Rodgers, so their best bet is to focus on stopping the run game. Look for Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon to potentially struggle in the season finale.
Despite losing a ton of games, the Lions aren't too far away from having an electric offense. It'll be interesting to see how Jared Goff performs against the Packers, but he could be in for a decent performance. D'Andre Swift was on fire before suffering a shoulder injury and we could see him play well to close out the year. Lastly, it appears we may have a new superstar receiver on our hands, especially if Amon-Ra St. Brown puts up big numbers yet again.
With that said, here are four bold Lions Week 18 predictions for their final game of the season against the Packers.

Lions Week 18 Predictions
4. Lions defense shuts down Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon
Although the Packers thrive in the passing game, they typically do well running the ball as well. However, this is an area the Lions could take advantage of on Sunday. It's a tough task to accomplish, but taking away Green Bay's rushing attack would do wonders for Detroit. Look for them to emphasize slowing down Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon in Week 18.
3. Jared Goff throws 2 touchdowns against the Packers
It's been a sloppy season for Jared Goff but it's not like he's been the worst quarterback in the league. It's been sporadic, but Goff has had some solid performances this year. He faces a strong Packers defense though and the Lions will likely be playing from behind in this matchup.

Look for Detroit to air it out against the Packers, as it gives them their best chances to win.

2. D'Andre Swift closes out the season with a strong performance
His last game wasn't spectacular by any means, but D'Andre Swift has a chance to redeem himself in Week 18. He's proven to be a reliable option out of the backfield and could be in for a big performance against the Packers. We'll see how it plays out though, as the Lions may decide to limit him to avoid further damaging his shoulder. Even so, Swift should be able to do well with his opportunities.
1. It's not a fluke, Amon-Ra St. Brown proves he's the next superstar wide receiver in the league
Amon-Ra St. Brown has been on fire in the final stretch of the season. He's emerged as the top pass option in Detroit after spending most of the year on the sideline. St. Brown has proven to be quarterback proof, which is the first sign of superstardom. The Lions might just have the next big name in the league in their wide receiver room.
Look for the Packers to emphasize guarding Amon-Ra St. Brown. He'll be put to the test against an excellent secondary to close out his rookie campaign. If St. Brown can put up big numbers against Green Bay, the Lions' front office should highly consider building their offense around him during the offseason.
