The Guardians make the trip to Denver to face the Rockies! These two teams are complete opposites this season, with the Guardians being one of the best teams in the MLB and atop the AL, while the Rockies have been one of the worst teams in the MLB. Our MLB odds series has our Guardians-Rockies prediction, odds, and pick for Wednesday.

The Guardians have been great this season at 36-18. They most recently lost in a game that snapped a nine-game winning streak. Their bats have dipped recently and are in the middle of the pack behind the plate. In comparison, their pitching has been a top-10 pitching staff. Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, Andres Gimenez, Tyler Freeman, and Josh Naylor have carried the Guardians behind the plate. Tanner Bibee, Triston McKenzie, and Ben Lively have held down the fort in the pitching staff very well despite their ace, Shane Bieber, being injured and getting Tommy John Surgery. The Guardians have been great to start the year and they get a great matchup against a struggling White Sox team on the road.

The Rockies are one of the worst teams in the MLB this season. They are 19-34 but have won three out of their last four games. Their bats have been very good this season as a top-10 unit, but they have the worst pitching staff in the MLB. Brendan Rodgers, Ryan McMahon, Ezequiel Tovar, Brenton Doyle, and Elias Diaz have all been solid for the Rockies behind the plate. Cal Quantrill and Austin Gomber have been okay at best for a unit that has struggled. The Rockies' offense has improved, but their pitching has been very bad, and has struggled across the board this season.

Why The Guardians Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Guardians are starting Logan Allen on the mound where he has a 6-2 record, a 4.89 ERA, and a 1.46 WHIP. Allen has allowed 32 runs on 65 hits with 18 walks and 50 strikeouts. In his 11 appearances, the Guardians are 7-4. In his last start, he pitched 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts for a Guardians win. Allen has been solid for the Guardians, but this is a difficult matchup against a surprisingly good Rockies offense behind the plate on the road.

The Guardians are a very good team behind the plate but have dipped recently. They are 16th in team batting average at .237 after finishing last season with a .259 batting average which was one of the best in the league. The offense is led by Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez leads the way in most of the batting categories. Gimenez leads the way in batting average at .269 and in OBP at .330. Jose Ramirez then leads the way in home runs at 15, in RBI at 54, and in total hits at 57.

Why The Rockies Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Rockies are starting Ty Blach on the mound. He has started the year with a 1-2 record, a 4.55 ERA, and a 1.30 WHIP. He has allowed 14 runs on 31 hits with five walks and 12 strikeouts through 27.2 innings. The Rockies are only 2-5 in his seven appearances this season. In his last start, he pitched 6.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts in a Rockies win. Ty Blach has been solid for the Rockies and his appearance means that the Rockies are also going to use their bullpen in this game.

The Rockies' offense has been a bright spot, especially recently. They are 10th in team batting average at .246 after finishing last season with a .249 batting average. The offense is led by Elias Diaz, Ryan McMahon, and Ezequiel Tovar. Diaz leads the way in batting average at .304. McMahon then leads the way in home runs at 10, in RBI at 32, and in OBP at .370. Tovar then leads the way in total hits at 62. This offense has an interesting matchup against Logan Allen, who has been inconsistent but is also winning games for the Guardians, regardless.

Final Guardians-Rockies Prediction & Pick

The Guardians are the better team when compared to the Rockies this season. The Guardians have the pitching advantage with Allen while Blach and the Rockies bullpen have struggled across the board. The Guardians should bounce back after losing their winning streak and win and cover against the Rockies.
