It is the final game of an interleague series as the New York Mets visit the Cleveland Guardians. It is time to continue our MLB odds series with a Mets-Guardians prediction and pick.
Game one of the series on Monday saw the Guardians take the win. The Guardians took the 2-0 lead on an RBI single by David Fry. Tomas Nido homered to make it a one-run game, but the Guardians would score again in the fourth. This would lead to a 3-1 win.
Game two of the series is Tuesday. Adrian Houser will be on the mound for the Mets in this one. He is 0-3 with a 7.44 ERA and a 1.84 WHIP. Carlos Carrasco will be on the mound for the Guardians. He is 2-4 on the year with a 5.16 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP.

Why The Mets Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Mets sit 17th in the majors in runs this year, while sitting 18th in batting average, 18th in on-base percentage, and 23rd in slugging. Brandon Nimmo has led the way on offense. He is hitting just .217, but he gets on base at a .360 rate. He has eight doubles, a triple, and seven home runs this year, leading to 29 RBIs. That leads the team.
Further, Nimmo has scored 26 times this year. Meanwhile, Pete Alonso leads the team in home runs this year. He comes in hitting just .235 with a .309 on-base percentage. Alonso has ten doubles and ten home runs, leading to 23 RBIs. He has scored 27 times this year.
Leading the team in runs scored this year in Francisco Lindor. Like many Mets, he is not hitting well. He is hitting .193 on the year with a .268 on-base percentage. Lindor has eight doubles and seven home runs, leading to his 22 RBIs.Further, he has stolen six bases and scored 28 runs this year. Also stealing bases well is Staling Marte. He is hitting .262 with a .312 on-base percentage. He has stolen eight bases and scored 23 times this year. Marte also has four home runs and 16 RBIs.
Mets pitching is 14th in team ERA while sitting 22nd in WHIP and tenth in opponent batting average. Jose Quintana will be on the mound for the Mets in this one. He is 1-4 on the year with a 5.21 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP. Quintana has allowed 14 runs over his last three starts, pitching just 13 total innings. Only two current Guardians have faced Quintana before, but they have 37 at-bats, hitting .351 against him.

The Guardians are fifth in the majors in runs scored this year while sitting 17th in batting average, 14th in on-base percentage, and 14th in slugging. Jose Ramirez has been great this year. He is hitting .253 on the year with a .301 on-base percentage. He has hit seven doubles, a triple, and 11 home runs. This has led to 41 RBIs on the year.
Further, Ramirez has stolen seven bases and 30 runs scored. Josh Naylor has also been solid this year. He is hitting .253 on the year with a .342 on-base percentage. He has eight doubles and 12 home runs, leading to 34 RBIs. Further, he has scored 26 times this year.
Hitting wonderful this year is Andres Gimenez. He is hitting .271 on the year with a .330 on-base percentage. He has eight doubles, a triple, and three home runs, leading to 27 RBIs. Further, he has stolen seven bases and 26 runs scored. Rounding out the top bats is Tyler Freeman. Freeman is hitting just .216, but he is getting on base at a .17 rate. He has seven doubles and four home runs, leading to 16 RBIs. Freeman also has stolen six bases and scored 25 times.
The Guardians are fifth in team ERA, eighth in WHIP, and ninth in opponent batting average. Triston McKenzie will be on the mound for the Guardians in this one. He is 2-3 with a 3.23 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. He has been great as of late. In his last four starts, he has pitched 25.1 innings, giving up just five earned runs, good for a 1.78 ERA.
Final Mets-Guardians Prediction & Pick
The Guardians have been pitching us this year, and McKenzie has been wonderful as of late. Cleveland has won three of the last four games he has started, with the only loss being because of the offensive struggles of the Guardians. The Guardians are hitting better as of late and Quintana will not slow them down much. Take the Guardians in this one.
