The Milwaukee Brewers take on the Atlanta Braves. Check out our MLB odds series for our Brewers Braves prediction and pick.
This is a pair of aces on a Saturday night in Georgia. Corbin Burnes of the Brewers goes up against Max Fried for the Braves.
Burnes has lived up to the billing so far this season. He brings a 1.93 ERA into this game, and he is eating up innings for Milwaukee. Burnes has completed seven innings in three of his starts. He has stayed away from the big inning and has been able to put hitters away. The Brewers have a large margin for error whenever Burnes takes the hill. If they score four runs for him, he will almost always win.
Max Fried had a rough first game against the Cincinnati Reds, but ever since, Fried has looked and pitched like an ace. He had some bad BABIP luck early in April but stayed the course and has been able to contain opposing hitters. His ERA was 7.94 after the Reds game, but he has whittled that mark down to a 3.00 ERA by allowing just three runs in his last 19 innings pitched across three starts. That will play for the Braves, and it's part of the Brewers Braves odds.

Why The Brewers Could Cover the Spread
They have Corbin Burnes on the mound. Burnes is a special starting pitcher and the anchor of the rotation. That's the cornerstone for Milwaukee, and everyone in the major leagues knows it. Burnes being the starter is the main thing you should look at when making a Brewers Braves prediction.
Beyond that point, Atlanta's bats have struggled this season. Ronald Acuna only recently returned to the lineup, but it's a lot more than that. Freddie Freeman is sorely missed, and there is also a hangover effect for the Braves after winning their World Series championship last autumn against the Houston Astros. The Brewers were one of the teams the Braves defeated on the road to a title, so Milwaukee knows it needs to make a statement in Georgia this weekend. All of this is worth contemplating when making a Brewers Braves pick.
Why The Braves Could Cover the Spread
After losing on Friday night, the Braves fell yet another game below .500 and lost even more ground relative to the New York Mets in the National League East. The Braves know they can't continue to surrender more games to the red-hot Mets, who have the look and feel of a division champion and maybe more.
It is well known that the 2021 Braves took a long time to pass the .500 mark. They got hot late in the season and carried that form into October. This year's Braves know that isn't sustainable. With Max Fried on the hill, they know they have a great chance and will play with the urgency they need to bring to the table.
Final Brewers-Braves Prediction & Pick
If both pitchers pitch to their capabilities, this is a dead-even game, and so from that standpoint, the Braves getting a run and a half might seem like the play. However, Burnes has been a notch better than Fried thus far, and Atlanta's hitters have struggled so profoundly, that Milwaukee is the better choice.
Final Brewers-Braves Prediction & Pick: Brewers -1.5
