The Seattle Mariners will try to win their 14th game in a row and complete a series sweep of the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon at Globe Life Field. It's time to continue our MLB odds coverage with a Mariners-Rangers prediction and pick.

The Mariners defeated the Rangers 3-2 in extra innings to win their 13th consecutive game. Things started slow for the Mariners as they trailed 1-0 heading into the third inning. Then, Carlos Santana mashed a monster shot to right-center field for a two-run bomb. It was his seventh home run in 2022, giving the Mariners the 3-2 lead. Then, Elier Hernandez crushed an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2. Extra innings came and J.P. Crawford answered in the 10th with an RBI single to right, scoring Sam Haggarty for the go-ahead and eventual game-winner.

Chris Flexen will attempt to keep the winning streak going as he takes the mound for the M's. Flexen is 6-8 with a 3.84 ERA. Recently, he went 6 innings, allowing one earned run on six hits with one strikeout and two walks. Flexen is 2-0 with an 0.71 ERA over both starts in July. Additionally, he is 4-0 with a 2.53 ERA over five career starts against the Rangers. Flexen is also 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA in two starts at Globe Life Field. Alternately, he is 3-5 with a 3.79 ERA in 10 starts on the road this season.

Glenn Otto takes the mound for the Rangers. Otto is 4-5 with a 5.50 ERA in 2022. Recently, he lasted only 4 1/3 innings in his last start, allowing four earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Otto faced the Mariners on June 4, lasting five innings while allowing two earned runs on two hits with five walks and a home run allowed. Also, he is 2-2 with an 8.06 ERA in six starts at Globe Life Field this year.

Why The Mariners Could Cover The Spread

The Mariners are averaging 4.92 runs per game during the 13-game winning streak. Subsequently, three players have contributed offensively in meaningful ways during the streak.

J.P. Crawford is batting .275 with six RBIs and 10 runs over 13 games. Additionally, he is hitting .316 with four RBIs and nine runs over nine games in July, so the trend likely will continue. Julio Rodriguez is batting .269 with three home runs, 11 RBIs, and nine runs in July. His production has become a beacon of hope for the Mariners, and he will take part in the home run derby this season. Likewise, Ty France has contributed in small ways, batting .229 with two RBIs and two runs in July.

The Mariners have turned things around because of their starting pitching. Robbie Ray, Logan Gilbert, and Flexen have all done their part to keep the Mariners in games. Their ability to go deep in games has made it easier for the bullpen to come in and pitch efficiently.

The Mariners will cover the spread if their offense lights it up. Yesterday, the offense could not get off the ground, but it was not enough to cost them the game. They did not cover the spread. Moreover, Seattle needs to continue their strong pitching performances and execute all around to ensure they cover the odds.

Why The Rangers Could Cover The Spread

The Rangers covered the spread yesterday due to good pitching. However, their hitting stalled. The Rangers have averaged 5.27 runs per game in July, so it was a minor hiccup.

Corey Seager is batting .351 with seven home runs, 16 RBIs, and 11 runs in July. Alternatively, Adolis Garcia has struggled in July, batting .115 with two RBIs and three runs. The Rangers need both hitters to produce at the plate and to build a lead early. Texas got the lead first last night but could not add to it before Seattle came back.

The Rangers will cover the spread if they get a good performance out of Otto. He must replicate the performance that yesterday's starter did, and confuse the Mariners at every turn. Additionally, the Rangers must pick it up offensively and not let Flexen get into a groove.

Final Mariners-Rangers Prediction & Pick

The Mariners are on fire. They are the hottest team in baseball and keep finding unique ways to win. Thus, expect the trend to continue. The Mariners did not cover the spread yesterday but found a way to win. Otto is not an intimidating pitcher, and Seattle should find ways to tack on some runs against him. The streak goes to 14 today.

Final Mariners-Rangers Prediction & Pick: Mariners: -1.5 (+122)
