The Colorado Rockies take on the San Francisco Giants. Check out our MLB odds series for our Rockies Giants prediction and pick.German Marquez gets the ball for the Rockies, while Carlos Rodon starts for the Giants.
German Marquez has a 6.71 ERA. It has been a brutal, ugly season for him. He has allowed at least five runs in five of his last seven starts. He has allowed at least four runs in eight of his last nine starts. The last time he allowed fewer than three runs in a start was on April 9 in his first start of the season. This has been a bloodbath for Marquez, and it's hard to know when it is going to stop. This has to be factored into the equation when making a Rockies Giants prediction.
Carlos Rodon has a 3.44 ERA. He has been very consistent and dependable for the Giants this year. His ERA is as high as it is because of one disastrous outing, an eight-run blow-up in 3 2/3 innings against the Cardinals on May 15. Rodon has allowed 22 runs this season in 55 innings pitched. That one May 15 outing marked more than one-third of the runs Rodon has given up in 2022. Otherwise, he has been very good. He is a good reason to take San Francisco when you make a Rockies Giants pick based on current MLB odds.

Why The Rockies Could Cover the Spread
The Rockies did finally break their streak of 12 straight losses to the Giants. Colorado got rid of that particular burden on May 18. However, Colorado hasn't won a game in San Francisco since August 14, 2021, and that's the only win on the Giants' home field since April 27, 2021. When a team loses that many consecutive games in another team's home ballpark, the laws of averages have been blown to bits. The Rockies are bound to finally play a winning game in San Francisco. For that matter, they are bound to play a good game at some point. The Rockies have had such a brutal run of results and luck in recent days that in a 162-game season, fortune is going to turn in their direction soon. It can't always go downward.
Why The Giants Could Cover the Spread
The Giants are a much better team than the Rockies. They have a much better pitcher in this matchup. Carlos Rodon has been solid and productive as a starter in the San Francisco rotation. He's one good reason to take the Giants against the spread. The even better reason is German Marquez, who has been lit up like a Christmas tree in 2022 and offers no real indication that he is about to improve. Marquez is easily one of the worst regular starting pitchers in Major League Baseball. The table is set. The Giants are in a great position to feast on his offerings and develop some momentum after a bumpy road trip which included multiple losses over the past weekend against the Miami Marlins.
Final Rockies-Giants Prediction & Pick
If German Marquez somehow breaks out of his funk and costs you money, you'll be angry … but you will know you made the smart, sensible pick. You certainly don't want to trust Marquez against a team which wears out the Rockies, especially in San Francisco.
Final Rockies-Giants Prediction & Pick: Giants -1.5
