The Baltimore Orioles and Minnesota Twins finish a 4-game series Thursday night! It's time to continue our MLB odds series with a Twins-Orioles prediction and pick.
The Twins are looking to take the series after winning the first two of the 4-game set. The Orioles won last night 9-4 after a strong offensive showcase. Minnesota is (15-10) on the season and is leading the AL Central Division by 3.5 games. As for the Orioles, they are (9-16) on the season and are last in the AL East Division — already nine games behind the New York Yankees.

Why The Twins Could Cover The Spread
Chris Archer is on the mound tonight for the Twins and he is having a successful season so far. The two-time All-Star has a 2.93 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 15.1 innings pitched. It's a small sample, but the former Rays' ace is off to a nice start. The good news is that he has seen this lineup three straight days from the dugout. Archer will be facing a lineup that is fresh off of nine runs and is capable of attacking him early.
Byron Buxton earned a day off yesterday as he is playing extremely well to start this season. Buxton is batting .290 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs. He's a big reason why the Twins are (8-2) in their last 10 games. The team is dealing with injuries but they are getting the job done regardless. Max Kepler is day-to-day with an illness and Miguel Sano, Bailey Ober, Sonny Gray, Alex Kirilloff, and Kyle Garlick are all on the 10-day IL.
Minnesota is favored in this game. That is the right call even though they lost by five runs last night. They need to attack the opposing pitcher who doesn't have much major league experience. Buxton should return to the leadoff spot and that should clearly benefit the Twins here. If Carlos Correa, Luis Arraez, and Jorge Polanco all hit the ball well then the Twins should win this game by two runs.
Why The Orioles Could Cover The Spread
The Birds are sending out Spenser Watkins who is pitching well this season. In four starts, he's allowed only five earned runs and walked eight batters. He has a 2.55 ERA with eight strikeouts and a 1.25 WHIP in 17.2 innings. Watkins doesn't have much experience as a big leaguer, but he's making the most of his opportunities so far this season. He will have a tough test tonight against a solid Twins lineup.
So far this season the Orioles have played better at home. They are (6-6) compared to (3-10) on the road. The team lost their ace John means to an elbow injury and he will likely be done for quite some time. It's going to once again be a long season for the Orioles but they have some good young talent that can gain some good experience this season. Their lineup is healthy for the most part and we might see some surprises this season, similar to the Cedric Mullins breakout year in 2021.
If they want to cover this spread, Mullins and the rest of the lineup need to get to Archer early. They need to force Twins' manager Rocco Baldelli to take him out early and make it a bullpen game. The good news is that they are fresh off of a great offensive game last night.
Final Twins-Orioles Prediction & Pick
The Twins are rolling and should take the series tonight. A two-run advantage seems doable and so take the Twins to cover this spread on the road.
Final Twins-Orioles Pick: Twins -1.5 (+112)
