The Minnesota Twins host the New York Yankees for the rubber match of the series! It's time to continue our MLB odds series with a Yankees-Twins prediction and pick.

After the Yankees dominated Game 1, the Twins dominated Game 2 and forced a rubber match against the top team in the MLB. Chris Archer pitched very well against the Yankees and earned his first win of the season. Nestor Cortes finally had a bad outing which was really the first of the season for him. Both of these teams are elite, so anything can happen when these two teams meet. Maybe this game will be closer.

Why The Yankees Could Cover The Spread

On the mound for the Yankees tonight is ace Gerrit Cole. He has a (5-1) record with a 2.57 ERA in 64.2 innings pitched. His 81 strikeouts are tied for 4th in the majors and his 0.96 WHIP is 11th in the majors. Whenever Cole is on the bump for the Yanks, the entire fan base and organization feel great about their chances to win the game.

The offense did not show up last night. I think that will turn around but you can't win them all. The win streak ends at seven but they have a chance to win the series against a division leader.

Aaron Judge leads the team basically in every offensive category. He needs others to step up tonight if they want to cover this spread. Giancarlo Stanton is batting .274 on the year which is above everyone's expectations. If he can stay healthy and continue to hit at that pace, he and Judge should be unstoppable this season. The lineup seriously needs Anthony Rizzo to improve on his .209 batting average as well.

Why The Twins Could Cover The Spread

The Twins found a way to win against a very good pitcher last night. Cortes is elite but what is tough is they have to now face Cole (who has allowed just one run in his last two outings). Earlier today, the Twins agreed to terms with catcher Gary Sanchez to avoid arbitration.

On the bump for the Twins is righty Dylan Bundy. The former Angels pitcher is off to a decent start this season. He is (3-3) on the year but has a 5.57 ERA in 42 innings. He's had some bad outings, but also some that allow him to remain in the rotation. The 29-year-old pitches a lot better at home this season. He is (2-0) with a 0.57 ERA in 15.2 innings. There is a huge difference in his home/away splits but the good news is that he is home against the Bronx Bombers.

The lineup played very well last night against the lefty. Byron Buxton, Gio Urshela, and Jose Miranda all had a multi-hit game but Miranda's 3 RBIs led them to the win. Buxton hit his 13th homer of the season which leads the team. Let's see if the Twins can keep up their momentum.

Final Yankees-Twins Prediction & Pick

I want to believe the Twins can win two in a row against the Yankees but this team is too elite. Cole is on the mound and he will likely be a huge factor in their success tonight. Take the Yankees to win by at least two runs on the road tonight.

Final Yankees-Twins Prediction & Pick: Yankees -1.5 (-126)
