Why The Clippers Could Cover The Spread

The Clippers start a three-game road trip in Memphis, where they look to avoid a season sweep against the Grizzlies. They are 14-12 against the spread while on the road; 10-8 as road underdogs. With Kawhi Leonard and Paul George still out with injuries, Reggie Jackson has stepped up into that scoring role, averaging 16.6 points and 4.1 assists per game. Newly acquired guard from Portland, Norman Powell, put up a team-high 28 points during his first game as a Clipper against the Bucks and says he feels like he belongs with the team. If he and Reggie Jackson can perform again as well as they have as of late, the Clippers have a chance to cover the spread and move to 5-1 ATS in their last five road games.

Why The Grizzlies Could Cover The Spread

The Grizzlies come back home for just one game before heading back on the road. They have won five of their last six games, all due to superstar guard Ja Morant. With a 33 point outing against Orlando, Morant has now scored at least 30 points in eight of his last nine games, solidifying his spot as an All-Star Game starter. Memphis has covered the spread in five of their last six games and is 8-2 in their last ten matchups at home. They’re also currently ranked 5th best in the league for 112.7 points per game. However, offensive threat Dillon Brooks, is still out with an ankle injury, hindering the Grizzlies to rely on Morant once again for most of the offensive production.

Final Clippers-Grizzlies Prediction & Pick

Los Angeles has been injury-prone from the beginning of the season, and are just scraping by .500 for the 8th seed in the West. Memphis has been dominating recently, especially at home, with a comfortable 3rd seed in the West. Don’t let both teams having injuries fool you towards betting the under at 227. Both teams will put their shots up, but eight points is a lot to cover in the NBA where anybody can get hot at any moment. If Ja Morant can keep doing what he’s doing for the Grizzlies, I see them pulling out an easy win at home here.

Final Clippers-Grizzlies Prediction & Pick: Grizzlies -8 (-110)
