Why The Heat Could Cover The Spread
The Miami Heat are back on a roll, winning five of their last six games and rapidly climbing up the Eastern Conference standings. We all knew that it was only a matter of time before last year's runner-ups would get back into the conversation. Funny enough, this Heat team actually reached the finals as the fifth-seed last season, which is where they currently stand. Miami's defense has been great all year, but their offensive improvements have been the catalyst for the recent run.
Article Continues BelowMiami's last win came on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Heat led by 18 heading into the fourth quarter of that game and ended up winning by nine points. Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler continued their impressive seasons, going for 22 and 20 points respectively. Jimmy also added five assists and four rebounds in a solid all-around performance. The key for Miami against a Suns team that absolutely lights it up will be the play of Duncan Robinson. Robinson currently averages 3.5 made threes per game and will need to exceed that number to compete with Phoenix. The Heat are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 games on the road against the Phoenix Suns.
Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread
The Phoenix Suns are inching closer and closer to the Utah Jazz for the top seed in the Western Conference standings. Phoenix defeated Utah head-to-head last Wednesday and currently has the second-best record in the NBA behind the Jazz. The Suns had their impressive seven-game winning streak snapped by the Clippers on Thursday, but followed that loss up with a dominating 28-point victory against the Wizards in their last game.
Devin Booker led the way for Phoenix with 27 points in just 25 minutes of play against Washington. Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton both recorded double-doubles in the win as well. The Suns have one of the deepest rosters in basketball and possess sharpshooters that can absolutely demoralize opposing teams. Phoenix has dominated the Eastern Conference of late, going 5-0 in their last five inter-conference games. They are currently 19-10 ATS and 21-8 SU at home this season and 9-1 in their last 10 games overall.
Final Heat-Suns Prediction & Pick
The over has been absolute money in Suns games all season long. The over has hit in seven of the Suns last eight games and this total would've hit in all eight. Phoenix has seen the over hit in 18 of their 29 home games this season. Miami is starting to gel on the offensive end, scoring at least 106 points in each of their last five games coming in as well. This will almost certainly be a back-and-forth game with tons of points being put on the board.
FINAL PICK: Over 216.5 Points (-110)
