The Charlotte Hornets will play the Phoenix Suns Sunday in an inter-conference matchup. It's time continue our NBA odds series with a Hornets-Suns prediction and pick.

The Hornets and Suns enter play on Sunday as two of the healthier teams around the NBA. Many teams are in the process of waiting for guys to exit the league's health and safety protocol. The Hornets already got LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier back off the list, and the Suns will only be missing players due to injuries and not the protocols. Devin Booker continues to be out with a hamstring strain, but it has not slowed down Phoenix yet. The Suns have won four out of their last five games and come into this matchup as clear favorites over the Hornets.

Here is how FanDuel has set the Hornets-Suns odds for this Sunday NBA matchup.

NBA Odds: Hornets-Suns Odds

Charlotte Hornets +7.5 (-110)

Phoenix Suns -7.5 (-110)

Why The Hornets Could Cover The Spread

Article Continues Below

Charlotte comes into this game at near full strength. Their top seven or eight players are all set to be active barring changes Sunday afternoon. LaMelo Ball has returned from his stint on the protocol list and will look to lead the Hornets to a win on Sunday. The Hornets struggled in his absence as they are 3-7 in their last ten games. Charlotte is 8-11 on the road this season and has lost five of their last seven road games.

The Hornets are 14-10 against the spread when pegged as an underdog this season. They are just 6-9 as road dogs, however. Charlotte is 18-13 vs. the spread overall and 6-4 against it in the last 10 games. The Hornets have covered in six of their last eight games.

Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread

Chris Paul has continued to propel the Suns in the absence of Devin Booker. Phoenix is 8-2 in their last 10 games and looks like they will be just fine holding down the fort while Booker works his way back from a hamstring injury. Paul leads the NBA averaging 10.1 assists per game, and has a pulse on everything the Suns are doing on both ends of the floor. Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges have stepped up in Booker's stead, helping the Suns keep pace with the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference standings. The Suns are the No. 1 seed in the West following the Warriors' loss vs. the Toronto Raptors on Saturday.

The Suns are 8-7 vs. the spread as home favorites this season. Phoenix is 15-13 vs. the spread overall, and 6-4 against the number across their last ten games and three of their last four.

Final Hornets-Suns Prediction and Pick

The Suns should be able to pull out the win here, but a cover may be tough. The Hornets are healthy and capable of putting up a ton of points. Phoenix is the clear better team but may struggle to run away with this one without Booker. Take the Hornets to cover in this one, as LaMelo Ball should continue to get back into the groove. Ball recently returned from the healthy and safety protocols and will look to lead Charlotte to an upset win in Phoenix. The Suns usually win, but they have played their fair share of close games this season.
