The NBA regular season is back in full swing and continues with games on Wednesday. The New York Knicks will hit the road and take on the Philadelphia 76ers. It’s time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Knicks-76ers prediction and pick.
These two teams have had very different seasons so far. The New York Knicks have struggled and have not won a game since before the all-star break. While the Philadelphia 76ers have been gaining momentum and have dominated their last two matches. This should be a lopsided rematch between two teams that just played against each other.

The New York Knicks have lost whatever momentum they had left. While the all-star break can serve as a reset for many teams, for others it can cause them to lose focus. For the Knicks, the latter appears to have taken place. Through their first 61 games, the Knicks have a losing record of 25-36. They are coming off back-to-back double-digit losses, with their most recent defeat coming against the Sixers. New York will get a shot at redemption on Wednesday, as they play the Sixers in a rematch, but they will need to step things up if they are hoping for a different outcome.
The Knicks did a good job of playing Philadelphia close for three quarters. However, when it came to crunch time, the Sixers outscored New York by 14 in the fourth quarter and sealed a 16 point victory. This is the same problem that the Knicks encountered against the Heat. New York will put in three solid quarters of basketball, but fail to close. The Knicks were outscored by 10 in the fourth quarter against Miami and lost that game by 15. If New York can just start stepping things up rather than slowing down at the end of the game, they could come out ahead in some of these close battles.
A big roadblock for this Knicks team is injuries. The Knicks currently have five players listed on their injury report, all of which are out. The unavailable players include Derrick Rose and Nerlens Noel. This Knicks team has faced adversity all season long. They are not fully out of the race, but they need to start turning things around fast. If New York can step things up in this rematch, they could potentially snag an impressive win.
Why The 76ers Could Cover The Spread
The Philadelphia 76ers have been hot lately. They have managed to come out of the all-star break looking better than ever before. Through their first 60 games, they have an impressive record of 37-23. They followed their 31 point victory over the Timberwolves on Friday, with a 16 point win over the Knicks on Sunday. Philadelphia is looking ready for playoffs but will need to get through the Knicks again on Wednesday. This is a game that the Sixers should win, but anything can happen. If Philly comes in ready to take care of business, they should have no problem doing so, but if they underestimate the Knicks, they could be surprised at the outcome.
Joel Embiid and James Harden are the two leaders of this Sixers team, and that combination seems to be working well. The two all-stars combined for 66 points in their most recent match against the Knicks. In the game prior they combined for 61. It seems that when these two guys are playing at their best, this Sixers team can be dominant. Combine that with the fact that they shot 36 free throws against the Wolves and 44 against the Knicks, and you get a winning recipe. This team is hard to keep pace with, and they look on pace for a third straight win.
The stars really seem to be aligning for this Sixers team. For the first time all season, they are at complete health, and it is showing. The Sixers have zero players listed on their injury report, and the timing couldn't be better. Philly seems poised to make a playoff run this year and it all starts with adding another win to their record. They should have no problem getting this win at home.
Final Knicks-76ers Prediction & Pick
This game belongs to Philadelphia. If the Knicks are able to learn from their loss then they could keep it closer, but the Sixers are definitely the better team here. Philadelphia has a more talented roster, and at complete health they have a huge edge here. Even given the widespread, the 76ers are still the correct pick. Pick Philadelphia to win and cover and expect a blowout on Wednesday.
FINAL KNICKS-76ERS Prediction & Pick: Philadelphia 76ers -10.5 (-110)
FINAL KNICKS-76ERS SCORE PREDICTION: 76ers 130 – Knicks 106
