In a heated divisional rivalry matchup, Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors take on LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers tonight in the Bay Area. It’s time to continue our NBA odds series with a Lakers-Warriors prediction and pick.
The Warriors are in a very comfortable 2nd place in the West, with a 41-15 record, 4.5 games back from the Phoenix Suns. The Lakers are looking to make a playoff push, as they sit in 9th place, right on the playoff bubble being just a half-game back on the Los Angeles Clippers.

Why The Lakers Can Cover The Spread
The Lakers are coming off of a two-game losing streak, losing to the Portland Trailblazers on Wednesday and the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday. After a few days of rest, and only being a half-game back out of a playoff spot, Los Angeles is more hungry than ever to get a win tonight and get back on the right track. The big question tonight comes from whether the Lakers can be healthy or not. Both LeBron James and Russell Westbrook are listed as questionable heading into this game, while Carmelo Anthony and Kendrick Nunn are both ruled out. If their star players are out tonight, the rest of the Lakers will be looking towards Anthony Davis to drive the team towards a seven-point cover.
The Lakers need to play to their strengths in this matchup, ranking top 10 in forcing turnovers while the Warriors are ranked second to last in ball security. If Los Angeles wants to win this game, they're going to have to do so in transition and focus on knocking down the points on the fast break.
Why The Warriors Can Cover The Spread
Believe it or not, the Warriors are actually on a two-game losing streak after a heartbreaking loss to the New York Knicks on Thursday and an embarrassing loss to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. Golden State looks to bounce back tonight and get another notch in the win column. The Warriors are 25-5 and 17-11-2 against the spread, both while playing at home. Unfortunately, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, and James Wiseman are all out with injuries tonight, but that shouldn't stop All-Stars Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins from getting it done offensively. Regardless of Golden State's “Splash Brothers” dynamic duo, they're one of the best defensive teams too. They hold their opponents to just 50 percent from the field and force more than 15 turnovers per game.
Final Lakers-Warriors Prediction & Pick
The Warriors are a very intimidating team to play against, especially at home, where they should have no problem handling the inconsistent Lakers. In fact, throughout the season, the Warriors are 29-23-4 against the spread, while the Lakers are just 25-31. Both teams are looking to stop out a losing streak, but I like the odds for the Warriors spread here at seven points – take it now before they officially announce if LeBron and/or Westbrook will be playing, allowing the lines to move accordingly.
Final Lakers-Warriors Prediction & Pick: Warriors -7 (-110)
