The Denver Nuggets will face the Sacramento Kings in a Western Conference battle. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Nuggets-Kings prediction and pick.
These teams have had very different seasons. The Nuggets went through some early struggles, but have pulled their play together to earn a 33-25 record, which is good for the fifth seed in the hotly contested Western Conference. The Kings haven't exactly been able to maintain the same level of play. Sacramento is currently 22-38, a record that makes them the third-worst team in the West. A blockbuster midseason trade for center Domantas Sabonis made headlines, but it hasn't done much to improve their play. Now they face a strong opponent in the Nuggets straight out of the All-Star Break.

Why The Nuggets Could Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowThe Nuggets are clearly the better team on both sides of the court here, but their biggest advantage will come on the offensive end. Denver has been great offensively, scoring nearly 110 points per game and ranking inside the top ten in every major shooting statistic. They also rank fourth in the NBA in assists per contest. The Kings have been absolutely abysmal on defense, as they allow a whopping 115 points per game while ranking in the bottom ten in the NBA in every single major defensive stat.
Sacramento's offense isn't anything to be afraid of either. The Kings only shoot 45% from the field while ranking 22nd in the league in shooting efficiency. The Nuggets only allow 107 points per game, one of the better numbers in the league. It's easy to see the Kings having some trouble getting up to speed in their first game in over a week here.
Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread
While the Kings are the owners of a terrible record, their numbers against the spread aren't quite as bad. Sacramento is 27-33 ATS on the season, but their numbers improve when we look at this specific matchup. The Kings are 16-16 against the spread when they play at home, and 10-9 when they enter as home underdogs. The Nuggets are 5-7 as road favorites, so this doesn't look like a terrible spot to count on the Kings in.
The importance of home-court advantage cannot be overlooked in this matchup. the Kings are a horrible 7-21 on the road and 15-17 on their home floor. That's an absolutely massive shift that shows just how much better Sacramento is when they play in their own arena. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are 16-10 at home and 17-15 on the road. Playing in Golden 1 Center will give the Kings the chance to pull off a cover and perhaps even play for a win.
Final Nuggets-Kings Prediction & Pick
This game will be much closer than most people expect. Count on the Kings to defend their home court as underdogs again and cover in this one.
Final Nuggets-Kings Prediction & Pick: Sacramento Kings: +4 (-114)
