Both teams come into this game on losing streaks, but the Hawks are heavy favorites. The Pacers have been struggling as of late, going 19-36 overall, and currently on a three-game losing streak. Atlanta hasn’t been doing much better, having an overall record of 25-28.

Why The Pacers Could Cover The Spread

The Pacers are currently in the selling process of their team. They shipped off Caris Levert to Cleveland and just traded Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings earlier today. While they haven’t been a good team in terms of winning games, they’ve been solid against the spread as an underdog, going 16-13, and 11-8 as underdogs on the road; much like tonight. It’s a lot of points to cover, but if the Pacers can block out the probable trade rumors going on in the locker room and stay focused on one game at a time, they can break this three-game losing streak and go into their next mini home stand with a win.

Why The Hawks Could Cover The Spread

The Hawks are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are slowly trying to find that playoff spot as they currently sit in 10th place in the East. They have covered eight straight wins against the spread, but fail to cover in every game that they lose. Atlanta is 0-28 against the spread in games that they lose, but 23-2 against the spread when they win. Tonight the Hawks are heavily favored, assuming that they’ll pull off a win tonight. Trae Young is very close to averaging a double-double in points (27.7) and assists (9.3) this year, and the Hawks will look to lean on him once again to control their offense and put points on the board.

Final Pacers-Hawks Prediction & Pick

The Hawks are averaging 111.5 points per game (ranking 9th in the league), while the Pacers are ranked 16th, averaging 108.7 points per game. Both teams are struggling so far this year, and they both are covering over the total points 52% of the time. With that said, over 227 seems like a high total number for these two teams. Both teams tend to slow down the tempo and take their time with finding the right shot selections. I expect the scoring to be much lower than expected. The Hawks will likely win this game but the spread is too high to be comfortable.
Final Pacers-Hawks Prediction & Pick: Under 227 (-110)
