The Oklahoma City Thunder host the NBA's top team the Phoenix Suns tonight. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Suns-Thunder prediction and pick.
The Phoenix Suns are ready to start the second half of the season on the same path they have been on since the beginning. They are (48-10) this season and have a 6.5 lead in the Western Conference. As for the Thunder, they are just (18-40) and have no way of really making a run this season. OKC is 14th in the West but is somehow just 6.5 games out of a possible playoff spot. The Suns should have no problem winning this game tonight on the road.

Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread
Phoenix should have no problem covering this spread. The problem they face here is that OKC is actually pretty good against the spread this season at (35-19-4). That is even higher than the Suns who are (32-26). Phoenix knows that this will be a favorable matchup, but they can't take them lightly. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains out with an ankle injury and they are also missing a few other roles players. The Suns did get word that Chris Paul will be out for an extended time with a thumb injury, but he will return before the playoffs. The Suns are still good enough to win this game and cover without him as the Thunder also missing their best player.
Why The Thunder Could Cover The Spread
The Thunder need to heavily rely on Luguentz Dort and Josh Giddey tonight. Those two have been the main factors since SGA has been out. If those two can create some kind of spark, then they can possibly cover this 10-point spread. OKC is (4-6) in their last 10 games averaging just 103 points per game. That will certainly not get the job done as most teams are averaging at least 5+ more points than that. The Suns are (9-1) in their last 10 averaging 117.7 points. There won't be much OKC can do if the Suns are in rhythm. Suns backup point guard Cameron Payne is also out with a wrist injury so the Suns will need to figure out a way to help Devin Booker in the backcourt. Either way, I trust the Suns to cover this spread more than the Thunder right now.
Final Suns-Thunder Prediction & Pick
Take the Suns to cover this spread on the road. Phoenix is (26-5) on the road which is the best mark in the league by a half-game over the Warriors. I just can't see enough from the Thunder here to keep them close.
Final Suns-Thunder Prediction & Pick: Suns -10 (-110)
