The NBA continues with games on Thursday night! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Thunder-Nets prediction and pick.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are probably the worst team on paper in the NBA. They don't have the worst record, but in terms of star power, they just have one big name. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is turning into a superstar, but OKC needs major help if they want to be competitive for the next few seasons. They are 13-27 on the year which puts them 14th in the Western Conference. The Thunder have lost five straight games and will be facing one of the toughest teams in the NBA.
The Brooklyn Nets are coming off a huge blowout win over the Chicago Bulls last night. The Nets controlled the game from start to finish, but the Bulls made it interesting in the third quarter. Once the 4th came around, the Nets took off and surged to a huge win. They had the full trio playing for one of the few times this season. The Nets proved when healthy, nobody is even close. They are 26-14 on the season which is good for 2nd in the East. Brooklyn has a favorable schedule for the next few games.
Here are the Thunder-Nets NBA odds, courtesy of FanDuel.

Why The Thunder Could Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowLet's be real here, the Thunder will have an extremely tough time covering this spread. The only way this happens is if the Nets rest James Harden and or Kevin Durant. Kyrie Irving will not play because the game is in Brooklyn. So, there is a better chance. Although, the Nets have been dealing with this all season long so there is no reason why they still can't control this game. The Thunder will need to do a lot to cover this spread. OKC is 5-14 on the road and they are last in the West in team assists. They have a long way to go.
If OKC wants to cover this spread, they need to show up on defense and hope that Durant has an off game. He leads the NBA in scoring at just under 30 points per game. The last time these two teams faced, the Nets won by 24 and Durant scored 33. OKC is 2-8 in their last 10 games and will need a miracle to win this game. Luckily for them, the Nets defense has allowed 115 points over their last 10. So if the Thunder can get hot offensively, they can stay in this game and have a chance at covering.
Why The Nets Could Cover The Spread
This should be one of the easiest games they cover all season long. The problem for the Nets is, they are 14-24-1 against the spread this year. That is not a good sign for bettors, but in this game, they should cover. OKC has managed to be 26-14 against the spread this year. That is a huge sign for bettors wanting to bet on OKC, and they have delivered all season long. The Nets clearly don't care about a spread, they just want to come out with a win.
If Brooklyn wants to cover this spread, they will hope that Durant and Harden play to give them a better chance. I don't expect Steve Nash to rest anyone, even though they are playing their third game in four days. Brooklyn is 11-10 at home this year and probably would be better if Irving played. Either way, expect the Nets to find a way to cover this spread and the Thunder don't pose a threat to them at all.
Final Thunder-Nets Prediction & Pick
Take the Nets here, this should be an easy decision. I don't think the Thunder can win this game on the road, much less cover this spread.
Final Thunder-Nets Prediction & Pick: Nets -7.5 (-106)
