Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread

The Minnesota Timberwolves have had a rollercoaster of a season but finally seems like they are beginning to pick things up. Like every team in the league, they have faced adversity, but through it all, they have managed to come out on top. Through their first 54 games, they have secured 29 wins and 25 losses. Minnesota just played the Kings and put in a dominant performance, winning by 20. The Wolves will look to mimic that performance and dominate once again on Wednesday.

In their win over Sacramento, no single player on the Wolves played for 30 minutes or more. It was the definition of a team win. KAT put in a great performance, dropping 25 points and nine rebounds, but he was not the sole contributor. 11 players played double-digit minutes in that game, six of them scored double-digit points. If the Wolves can put forward that type of team effort on a nightly basis they will have no problem winning games. They also couldn't miss from beyond the arc in that match. Minnesota went 22-for-44 from the three which allowed them to bury their opponent.

One of the biggest things working in Minnesota's favor is their lack of injuries. The Wolves have only one player listed on their injury report, and he is listed as day-to-day. Now that Minnesota is fully healthy they can finally gain some steam and start consistently winning games. They have the talent and skill to make a deep run this year and it seems like they are starting to now. The Wolves already dominated the Kings in their last match and there's really no reason this game should go any differently. Expect Minnesota to have another great game and add to their win streak.

Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread

The Sacramento Kings have had one of the more disappointing seasons. They haven't really been competitive and don't have much hope at making a run late this season. Through their first 56 games, they only have 20 wins and 36 losses. While they aren't the worst team in the league they are definitely towards the bottom. They are coming off a 20-point loss to the Wolves who they are playing again on Wednesday. Sacramento will need to make some big changes if they want Wednesday to turn out differently. While it's not impossible, it seems unlikely that this game will end differently than the last.

Both De'Aron Fox and Harrison Barnes turned in respectable performances in their loss to Minnesota, but that's about it. Sacramento only took 25 threes in that match and only converted on 9 of them. They came up short offensively and just couldn't keep up with the Wolves' onslaught. Sacramento needs to kick things up offensively and needs more of their players to step up. This has been a trend for the Kings, where one or two players contribute but everyone else just comes up short. If they want to beat a team like Minnesota they need everyone to step up.

Sacramento just made a huge trade, giving away Buddy Hield, Tyrese Haliburton, and Tristan Thompson in exchange for Domantas Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb, and Justin Holiday. The newly acquired players are listed on the injury report as day-to-day. Beyond the new additions, Sacramento has four players listed on their injury report, with only Richaun Holmes listed as questionable for the match. The Kings trade brought some great new talent to the roster that will likely make a big difference, but until they start playing regularly the Kings are still underwhelming.

Final Timberwolves-Kings Prediction & Pick

This should be a fun game. It's always interesting when two teams play each other in back-to-back matches. Really anything can happen, but based on their last match it seems like a Minnesota victory is imminent. Not much has changed, and until the new members of Sacramento start playing not much will change. Minnesota took down Sacramento by 20 so the spread seems pretty fair. Pick the Timberwolves to win and cover and expect another night of dominance for Minnesota.
