The San Francisco 49ers will face the Seattle Seahawks in an NFC West duel on Sunday. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a 49ers-Seahawks prediction and pick.
Another week, another crucial game in the NFC West. The Niners have managed to keep their playoff hopes alive with three consecutive wins, and now they run into a very familiar opponent. A win here would put San Francisco in legitimate striking distance of second place in the division, as the Los Angeles Rams seem to be in the middle of a collapse. The Seahawks are in a slightly less desirable position. Seattle needs a win in order to keep any sort of hopes for the playoffs alive, as a loss to the Washington Football Team in Week 12 dropped them to 3-8. Another loss would essentially eliminate the Seahawks, so head coach Pete Carroll's team will bring playoff intensity in every single matchup.

Why The 49ers Could Cover The Spread
Article Continues BelowThe last time that the Seahawks fielded a decent defense was back in the Legion of Boom days. Opponents are taking note and absolutely torching the Seattle defense. The Seahawks are currently ranked as the second-worst pass defense in the NFL, allowing 274 yards per game. To make things even better for the Niners, Seattle is also one of the worst in the league against opposing run games. They allow a whopping 125 rushing yards per game, and now they face a Niners team that fields a top-ten rushing attack. San Francisco just showed how well they could run the ball against the Rams, and now they face a far inferior defense. Expect the Niners to control the ball and sustain multiple drives here.
Unlike the Seahawks, the Niners haven't had much trouble stopping their opponents. San Francisco has held their opponent to ten points in two of their last three contests, and now they face a Seattle offense that has looked totally inept ever since quarterback Russell Wilson made his return to the lineup. The Seahawks have not scored more than 20 points in three weeks, and they run into a top-ten pass defense in the NFL. It's hard to see Seattle getting everything together in this one.
Why The Seahawks Could Cover The Spread
When the end of the season begins to come around, injuries are a problem for everyone. The Niners are certainly no exception, as they have one of the longest injury reports in the entire league this week. Several key players are included on that injury report, as star linebacker Fred Warner and breakout wide receiver Deebo Samuel are both questionable for this game. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw and running back Trey Sermon have both missed practice as well. Seattle won't be running into a fully healthy San Francisco team by any means.
Despite his recent struggles, there's reason to believe that Russell Wilson can turn things around here. Wilson has been playing the Niners for his entire career, and he's always performed exceptionally well against them. In his last four games against San Francisco, the star signal-caller posted 824 passing yards, ten touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Playing in Seattle in front of a rabid fan base will also provide a boost to the entire Seattle offense.
Final 49ers-Seahawks Prediction & Pick
These teams are headed in completely opposite directions right now. San Francisco is rolling after three straight wins, and Seattle has dropped three straight. There's no reason the Niners should be favored by less than five here, so take this line and hammer San Fran.
Final 49ers-Seahawks Pick: San Francisco 49ers: -3.5 (-105)
