The Eagles, seeking their first win of the preseason, head to MetLife Stadium to take on the Jets in both teams' preseason finales. It’s time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Eagles-Jets prediction and pick.
The Eagles looked absolutely helpless last week in getting shutout 35-0 versus the Patriots. Meanwhile, the Jets got perhaps their best performance yet out of rookie Zach Wilson. Since this matchup will be the last game of the preseason, it's likely Wilson will be on the sidelines all game. And certainly don't expect Jalen Hurts to get any snaps for the Eagles either. As preseason games go, this game won't be very entertaining, but likely even so since it's the last game before the real games start.
Here’s how the bookmakers have set the lines for Friday's matchup.

Why The Eagles Could Win
Not that the preseason has much of a say in determining how good or bad a team actually is, but it's still surprising to see the Eagles play so poorly. Given up 35 points, while getting shut out – during a game with zero implication – is simply embarrassing. So my take here is: is this the equivalent of preseason's “rock bottom?” If that's true, then the Eagles only have room to go up in this final tune-up before their Week 1 opener in Atlanta. Nick Mullens will likely get the bulk of snaps under center and basically has no shot to earn the backup role. So if he plays well for the Eagles in this game, maybe that's enough for him to latch on with another team if he's ultimately cut by Philadelphia.
Why The Jets Could Win
The Jets are…undefeated?! You heard that right. Through two preseason games, the Jets are 2-0 and have defeated both the Giants and Packers. Zach Wilson was phenomenal in limited action, completing 9 of his 11 passes for 128 yards and two passing touchdowns. Assuming Wilson rides the bench in this game, the quarterback position will be highlighted by Mike White and James Morgan. White played well last week – he went 7-for-9 with 39 yards. Trust me, I don't think this will be a pretty game. But the Jets are on a mini hot-streak, and they have the momentum needed to sail into the regular season at 3-0, giving Jets fans hope, if ever so slight, that this season could be a playoff season.
Final Eagles-Jets Prediction & Pick
Playing in the friendly confines of their own stadium, the Jets pick up the win and end their preseason undefeated. Mike White wins the backup job while the Eagles head into the regular season with more question marks then they'd like. But I also expect this to be a super low-scoring game, so the under is a good bet here too. But my main pick. J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS!
