Saturday night will showcase the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts! It's time to continue our NFL odds series with a Patriots-Colts prediction and pick based on Patriots Colts odds.
Both of these teams are fresh off of a bye week. The Patriots are leading the AFC with a 9-4 record and have won eight straight games. The Patriots rely on their tough defense to win games for them. Offensively, they focus on the run game more often than not but can throw if needed. Rookie Mac Jones isn't an eye-opening QB by any means, but he gets the job done as vanilla as possible. He only has 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions on the season and is now the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The Colts are surging after a horrible start to the season, similar to the Patriots. They've won five of their last seven games and put themselves back into the playoff picture. A win against the top-seeded Patriots will give them a major push and would put them inside the playoffs for now. Jonathon Taylor is playing like an MVP this season and is a huge reason for the Colts' success. The Colts' defense is also playing very well and keeping them in games.
Here is how FanDuel set the Patriots-Colts NFL odds for Saturday Night.

Why The Patriots Could Cover The Spread
The Patriots face a difficult matchup but are more than capable of covering this spread. They will need to focus on limiting the Colts' run game and more importantly shut down Taylor. Taylor can beat any team single-handily because of how dominant he is in the trenches. If the Patriots are able to shut him down then they really should have no problem upsetting the Colts. I'm actually not sure how the Colts are the favorite in this one with how dominant the Patriots have been this year.
New England is also 9-4 against the spread this year and is in a good position to move to 10-4 being the underdogs Saturday night. This matchup has turned into a rivalry as both teams and fan bases do not like each other. Expect there to be some flares in this one.
Why The Colts Could Cover The Spread
Since the Colts are favored, they will need to win by at least a field goal to cover this spread. They are more than capable of doing so, they just desperately need Taylor to play well. He's been on an absolute tear lately and there isn't a reason why he shouldn't continue that. The Patriots defense is allowing just 15 points per game so the Colts will really need to be on their game in this one.
Indianapolis is 8-5 against the spread this year and is playing very well as of late. They are right in the playoff hunt and with a win this weekend, they will boost their chances even more. Carson Wentz will need to limit his turnovers against a very good defense. If he can do that, the Colts will make this a close game.
Final Patriots-Colts Prediction & Pick
I'm taking the Patriots to escape with a win and “upset” the Colts. I know it's in Indianapolis but that hasn't ever stopped the Patriots before. Their defense is just too elite and I think that will be the deciding factor. I still think that Taylor will be a force and play well, it just won't be enough to cover the spread.
Final Patriots-Colts Prediction & Pick: Patriots +2.5 (-110)
