The Pittsburgh Steelers will take on the Los Angeles Chargers in an AFC matchup in Week 11. It's time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Steelers-Chargers prediction and pick.
This game could be a turning point for both of these teams. The Steelers are fighting for the hotly contested AFC North, where they trail the Baltimore Ravens by half a game. A premium road win here would do a lot for Pittsburgh's confidence as they head into a key part of the season.
The Chargers are in an almost identical situation in AFC West. They trail the Kansas City Chiefs by a game, but they've already beaten the Chiefs on the road. The West will be one of the closest division races in the NFL, making every single game hugely important for the Chargers.

Why The Steelers Could Cover The Spread
Pittsburgh has earned most of their wins by playing stellar defensive football. This defensive unit has performed well against plenty of top-flight talent, including the Buffalo Bills and the Green Bay Packers. Meanwhile, Los Angeles has had trouble performing consistently on the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback Justin Herbert struggled against the likes of the Minnesota Vikings and the Baltimore Ravens, two defenses that are far worse than Pittsburgh's.
Despite what their winning record might show, the Chargers have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the league, especially on defense. Los Angeles has been particularly poor against opposing run games. They allow a whopping 155 yards per game to opposing rushing attacks while also allowing an insane 4.8 yards per carry to opposing backs. The Steelers are a decent running team, but they should look like one of the best in the league in this matchup.
Why The Chargers Could Cover The Spread
While their defense has been one of the best in the NFL, Pittsburgh's offense hasn't produced at the same level. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been one of the worst starters in the league, and the offensive line hasn't done him any favors. Los Angeles has been fantastic at putting a stop to opposing passing games this season, proven by the fact that they only allow 206 passing yards per game. That number is good for sixth-best in the league. The Steelers should be forced to run the ball almost exclusively in this game, which will be a huge help for the Chargers' defense.
The Steelers obviously have a winning record, but their record against the spread isn't nearly as good. Pittsburgh is 3-6 ATS, good for one of the worst records in the league against the spread. The Chargers have actually been pretty solid against the spread, earning a 5-4 record that mirrors their straight-up record. The bookmakers clearly have some trouble nailing down exactly where to set the lines for Pittsburgh, so this could be an advantageous Los Angeles line.
Final Steelers-Chargers Prediction & Pick
The Steelers may not have a great record against the spread, but the Chargers are getting too much credit here. Los Angeles has been far too inconsistent to be favored by a touchdown here.
Final Steelers-Chargers Prediction & Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers: +5 (-110)
