The Houston Texans will play the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15 in an AFC South matchup. It's time to continue our NFL odds series with a Texans-Jaguars prediction and pick.
The Texans and Jaguars will play on Sunday as the Jaguars look to move on from the Urban Meyer saga. Meyer was fired in the middle of the week, with the Jaguars naming Darrell Bevell as interim head coach. Houston and Jacksonville are both in the midst of tough seasons, as neither has any shot at the postseason. Trevor Lawrence will finally be able to play without the cloud of Meyer hanging over the team. We will see if Meyer's departure gives the Jaguars a boost or not vs. a struggling Texans team. Jacksonville comes in as solid favorites over the Texans despite changing head coaches during the week.
Here is how FanDuel set the Texans-Jaguars odds for this Week 15 NFL matchup.
NFL Odds: Texans-Jaguars Odds

Regardless of who is coaching the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence has to take better care of the ball. Lawrence has 14 interceptions in 13 games this season, and this could be one of the keys to this game. If Lawrence gives away possessions, the Texans and rookie QB Davis Mills will have a much better chance at a cover or a win in this one. Houston has given Mills the job for the rest of the season after Tyrod Taylor has struggled in recent weeks. This is a battle between two of the worst teams in the NFL, so just taking the points may not be the worst idea. Neither of these teams is really good enough to expect a blowout, so laying points seems like the less favorable side to be on in this one. The Texans are 1-5 on the road and 5-8 vs. the spread so far this season.
Why The Jaguars Could Cover The Spread
Perhaps the removal of Urban Meyer is all the Jaguars need. Maybe the offense and Lawrence will take off without him. James Robinson has been a bit dormant of late, so if Bevell could get him going that would be a big boost to the offense. The reality is that Jacksonville has been a pretty bad team this season and that may not change in a couple of days following Meyer being fired. Still, it has to help as it became clear exactly how dysfunctional Meyer has became as the head man in Jacksonville. The Jaguars should probably still not be trusted to lay this many points, even at home vs. a bad team like the Texans. The Jaguars are 2-5 at home this season and 4-9 vs. the spread overall.
Final Texans-Jaguars Prediction & Pick
Take the Texans and the points in this one. Jacksonville has not shown enough to lay nearly a full possession worth of points. Houston should be able to cover and maybe even win in what is a somewhat even matchup between two of the NFL's worst teams. The Texans only two wins so far this season are both in division games (vs. Jacksonville and at the Tennessee Titans), so maybe they can pick up a third division win on Sunday.
Final Texans-Jaguars prediction & pick: Texans +4.5 (-110)
